Custom Roof Rack Design
So I’ve been working on some designs for a new roof rack style. I really didn’t like how everything sat so high when mounted to the stock rack. So this is version one of the design.
I was thinking 1.5″ or 1.75″ OD aluminum tubing (maybe 6061?) for the main rails and removable basket frame. The main rails would be mounted to plates on top and under the roof. This will also replace the current rails and spoiler.
Anyone wanna throw out some ideas or changes?

Integrated table that slides under rack.
I like the idea! I just bought my VX and the front mounts for the roof rack are torn as though someone hauled a large item and wind got under it. They are torn and rusty. If you decide to do away with your original rack, let me know. I would be glad to have the brackets for the right price.
